Lady Khadijah was the very first person to accept Islam and believe in the Prophetﷺ. He would later say of her, 'She believed in me when people disbelieved in me; she trusted me when people belied me; she gave me shelter when people refused me; she supported me when people deprived me; and Allah provided me with children through her when He deprived me of children from [all other] women.'

 

The present work is a translation of two treatises on the Life of Lady Khadijah and her outstanding virtues. The first is that of the late Meccan scholar Sayyid Muhammad in 'Alawi al-Maliki al-Hasani, entitled Bushra fi Manaqib al-Sayyidah al-Khadijah al-Kubra (The Glad Tidings on the Merits of Lady Khadijah the Greatest); and the second, al-Sayyidah Khadijah Umm al-Mu'minin wa Sabbaqah al-Khalq ila al-Islam (Lady Khadijah: The Mother of the Believers and the First of Creation to Embrace Islam), is by the late Syrian scholar Shaykh 'Abd al-Hamid Mahmud Tuhmaz. Together, they form an indispensable resource for delving deeper into the life of this remarkable woman.

 

Lady Khadijah's life – a testament to her loyalty, deep faith, impeccable character, steadfastness and unwavering dedication to Allah, the Prophetﷺ and Islam, and her strength in the face of adversity - remains an inspiration and timeless example for Muslim men and women everywhere.
